To this day, Charlie Reed remembers the day in 1980 when he arrived on Hilton Head Island with his wife, Sandra, and young son, Andy. Thinking he was on a short furlough from his job as a pilot for Braniff International Airways, he decided to take an interim job selling real estate until the airline was up and running again.
