Smith Wins Defamation Lawsuit

Smith was awarded an undisclosed settlement amount from Adrienne Greenup on August 25, 2009, stemming from a Google blog she posted on June 27, 2008.  Adrienne Greenup was an employee of  VDN, Inc. [a company holding of Smith] for a short time during 2001.  This blog was grossly negligent, untrue, and intended to defame VDN, Inc., Dale Cooper, and Blake Smith.  This blog was posted anonymously by Adrienne Greenup, under the name “rileybiz,” and it was only after filing suit against Google and Time-Warner in Federal Court was her identity discovered.  As part of the mediated settlement agreement she signed an affidavit saying, “The blog was factually inaccurate and I now retract it in its entirety.”  Smith is further investigating parties that might have indiscriminately forwarded the link to this blog to third-parties without regard to its accuracy.
